Getting Closer to my decision.......

Okay......so I went gun shopping this week =) I thought I was set on what I was going to buy. Remember?....the Springfield XD 9MM 4" (all black).

What I ended up looking at (because they didnt have the 9MM 4") was the Springfield XD Bitone 4" 40 caliber. Now, not only do I not want a bi-colored weapon.....but I also wasnt sure about the difference in the weight of the Glock 23 40 caliber vs. the Springfield XD.

I thought my initial reseach showed that the XD was lighter. NOPE....the glock was significantly lighter when I held them side by side.

SO.....NOW ...I don't know what to do. I still need to test out the Springfield XD 40 caliber since it was explained that I really should get the 40 since it will stop anyone in their tracks.....vs the 9mm could just go thru an attacker....not stop them.

Pros of the XD --> more safety features, on sale, and more comfortable grip for my little girly hands, extended magazine allows for 14 rounds.

Pros of the Glock --> lighter.....um.....well thats about it, unless you count the whole "can fire it under water thing"..... yeah....like Im trying out for the next tombraider ???
anywho......I did buy a gunvault

& this is the holster I think Im going with.

Celebrating Summer Solstice !

Solstice, from the Latin for sun stands still, in astronomy, either of the two points on the ecliptic that lie midway between the equinoxes (separated from them by an angular distance of 90°).

At the solstices the sun's apparent position on the celestial sphere reaches its greatest distance above or below the celestial
equator, about 23 1/2° of arc. At the time of summer solstice, about June 22, the sun is directly overhead at noon at the Tropic of Cancer.

In the Northern Hemisphere the longest day and shortest night of the year occur on this date, marking the beginning of summer. At winter solstice, about December 22, the sun is overhead at noon at the Tropic of Capricorn; this marks the beginning of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. For several days before and after each solstice the sun appears to stand still in the sky, i.e., its noontime elevation does not seem to change from day to day.
More interesting facts re: Summer Solstice

Alban Heruin, the light of the shore, for three days from sunset around 21 June according to the Astronomical calendar, for power, joy and courage

Animal: Bear

Tree: Oak

Herbs and incenses: chamomile, elder, fennel, lavender, St. John’s Wort and verbena.

Candle colours: red, orange, gold

Crystals: brilliant red or orange crystals, stones of the sun, such as amber, carnelian, orange, beryl, or jasper, sun stone, also crystal quartz.

Agricultural significance: The long days and warm weather are vital for long hours in the fields as young animals grow strong and crops begin to ripen; but there is an awareness that the Summer Solstice does mark the longest day of the year and that henceforth, though imperceptibly darkness increases; this is a reminder that time is finite and chores cannot be put off indefinitely.

Folk/magical significance: The Sun God is crowned by the Goddess and for this one day takes his place as her equal. But it is joy tinged with sadness for the Dark Twin is born and grows stronger, even as the Sun King becomes weaker, day by day. The Goddess or her priestess/Druidess representative, casts her bouquet on a hilltop fire to add her power to the sun and to pay tribute to him.

As at the Midwinter Solstice, strength is given to the sun ‑ fire wheels were rolled from the tops of hills and flaming tar barrels and torches hurled into the air. In the Sun Goddess tradition, she was said to bathe in the waters of the earth on the Solstice Eve and so river water was (before pollution) regarded as especially healing for bathing at dawn on Summer Solstice morn.

Ritual significance: The day of pure Awen as the three bars of Light appear at Dawn. Alban Heruin, was the longest day of the year.

Stonehenge is oriented to mark the sunrise at the summer and winter solstices. Druidic ceremonies are held at Dawn and Noon on the Solstice at sacred circles and stones and some groups and individuals keep a vigil from sunset on the previous evening. At sunset of the Summer Solstice, another significant ritual point the Heel (Sun) Stone outside the circles at Stonehenge casts a shadow on the Altar Stone, thus marking the beginning of the dying of the year.

Deities: Sulis (Minerva). At the sacred Celtic hot springs at Baths, the Romans built their own magnificent healing edifices, combining the indigenous Sulis, the Celtic Sun Goddess and resident patroness of the sacred waters at Bath, with their own Minerva Goddess of Wisdom.

Symbols: use brightly-coloured flowers, oak boughs, golden fern pollen that is said to reveal buried treasure wherever it falls, scarlet, orange and yellow ribbons, gold coloured coins, sun-catchers and golden fruit.

Summer Solstice rituals are good for success, happiness, strength, identity, wealth, fertility, adolescents and young adults, career and travel.

Personal Activities

On the Summer Solstice, greet the dawn by lighting a lantern just before sunrise, from an East facing hill or plain.
Spend the day in the open air and then say farewell to the Sun on a West facing slope, lighting your lantern once more to give the sun power even as it descends.

Cast golden flowers or herbs into the air from a hill, a handful at a time, making empowerments for courage and achievement to the winds. Where they land and take root represents in the old traditions places of buried treasure or in this case symbolises new or buried talents you can develop to realise your hidden potential.

Make your Solstice water, the most potent Sun water of the year, leaving water in a gold coloured dish surrounded by golden-coloured flowers from dusk on the Solstice Eve until Noon on the Longest Day. This is especially healing and empowering and you can keep it in clear glass or gold coloured bottles to drink or add to bath water to give you energy and confidence.

Make a small sun wheel garden, either indoors or out using the flowering herbs of Midsummer vervain and St John’s Wort, Sun herbs such as frankincense, juniper, rosemary and saffron and all yellow or golden flowers, arrange them in the form of a wheel and fill in the centre with tiny golden crystals or glass nuggets. You can breathe in the golden light from your living sun wheel.

Light sun oils, frankincense, juniper, rosemary, orange or benzoin or burn them as incense to bring the sun power into your home or workplace.

10 Things for 10 People.......

Rules : List ten things you want to say to ten people you know but you never will, for whatever reason…Don’t say who they are…Use each person only once:

Okay…..this little posting exercise has been making the rounds for a while now. I originally read it over HERE at Addicts. I have also read it on quite a few of my regulars haunts in the last two weeks. I would have to say, for those who have participated 'it’s a good thing…' as Martha says.

Originally ……I had asked Addict if I could borrow it….and whoever may have read her list, comments and browsed over to my BLOG to read mine, probably thought I blew it off. Well…quite the opposite. I’ve been obsessed by the idea of this post and not been able to put into words until now why I haven't participated.

Why you ask?......

Well, while I agree this is a wonderful cathartic experience, by participating in it I would be admitting not meeting my daily goal. If, in fact, I have 10 things for 10 people in my life to purge, barf out, release, whatever you want to call it…..then I have to admit to not living true to myself.

In reality, I have been carrying this self-realization around since I first thought about doing this exercise. Sure, I could cop-out and write 10 things for 10 people that I don’t have access to any longer…….(due to death, geographical roadblocks, or faded friendships), and I actually began thinking of what I would write to a few of those people….but then I realized if I really have something to say……its my responsibility to either pick up the phone and say it ….or ‘let it go’.

Just the other day, I was called on this behavior……one that I guess I have been fooling myself about. I was asked “what are you thinking”….and I answered “nothing” as many of us have done in conversations where we are unsure of where they are going.

I have to thank that person next time I see them. But will I ?? LOL Do they even read this BLOG?? I guess we’ll see huh?.......

I also must stay more cognizant of my promise to myself to live more true. This means I have to break down the walls I have built in some of my relationships….be vulnerable again….and risk.

Wish me luck …….Blessed Be BF’s.

Einstein breathes new life into my 'opportunity'

"Never regard your study as a duty, but as the enviable opportunity to learn to know the liberating influence of beauty in the realm of the spirit for your own personal joy and to the profit of the community to which your later work belongs." Albert Einstein (1879-1955)

And ..... in an effort for those of you who actually read my musings.......I also note Einsteins agreement of my 'never ending questions' I throw at you day after day!!
"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day."
—From the memoirs of William Miller, an editor, quoted in Life magazine, May 2, 1955; Expanded, p. 281

A little insight to my Full Moon Celebrations Monday

The Celtic Cross is recommended by Arthur Edward Waite as the "most suitable for obtaining an answer to a definite question". It is clearly a favorite among the many choices of Tarot spreads and though the interpretation is complex it is one you should consider learning to use. My reading and suggested interpretations are provided below for consideration but in the end the meaning I take away is equal to the meaning I provide.

My reading :

The Cover describes the overall current influences on the questioner.

My Card: Ace of Swords (Upright) reveals: Beginning of a victory, ability to love and hate with ardor, a valiant leader may be born.

The Cross is another element in the situation and generally the forces in opposition to those in the previous card.

My Card: Knight of Wands (Upright) reveals: An impetuous nature, generous friend, a lover, haste, a journey, the coming or going of a matter is of much concern.

Behind is general life influences which have been in effect for a time, and which are ending now, or have just ended.

My Card: Ace of Cups (Reversed) reveals: Hesitancy to accept the things that come from the heart, love under a selfish grasp, egotism.

The Crown is possibilities, alternate futures, perhaps something you are projecting? That you think will happen?

My Card: Three of Swords (Upright) reveals: Affections may experience stormy weather, lovers separated, possible civil war.

Before is general life influences which are just now, or in the immmediate future, beginning to influence the questioner.

My Card: Seven of Pentacles (Reversed) reveals: Little progress, impatience, anxiety, investments may be unprofitable.

Self is aspects, conscious or unconscious, of your self image and fundamental nature which are relevant to the question.

My Card: Ten of Cups (Upright) reveals: A happy family life, true friendships, lasting happiness .
The House describes the environment including the people around the questioner as they are relevant to the question.

My Card: Page of Wands (Upright) reveals: Brilliance, courage, beauty, sudden anger or love, great enthusiasm, a messenger.

Hopes is not surprisingly the hopes, but also could be the fears, or both, that the questioner may have about the issue in question.

My Card: The Lovers (Reversed) reveals: Unreliability, separation, frustration in love, fickleness, untrustworthy.

The Outcome is what naturally follows from all the preceding influences and cards but is still subject to change based on changes to the influences and actions of the questioner.

My Card: Eight of Swords (Upright) reveals: Restricted action, indecision, censure, temporary illness, weakness, a prisoner.

*** so ....let see what I need to 'take care of' tomarrow nite during my moon ceremony.......

Overall I the preparation I have been working on....will begin to show itself in a victorious manner.

Someone close to me be going on a journey...personal or otherwise that will concern me and change our interactions.

I will ask for continued strength toward openess of anothers expression of love that I previously may have been blocking out.

But first it seems the future will provide a bumpy ride for those in my circle. This may test the devotion we all have for eachother. Unfortunately, it may a frustrating and possibly unprofitable time for us. This time will be filled with roadblocks and anxiety.

My immediate family life and TRUE friendships will see me through.

I will be receiving or meet a messenger who will oooze beauty (inner or outer) great passion and courageously will deliver the message clothed in anger or love.

Negative relationship attributes will continue to present and confirm fears with acts of separation, untrustworthyness, and unreliability.

All this insight will lead me to pull back, redirect my actions, censure my interactions, become ill with the emotional rollercoaster and feel unable to breathe freely.***

~~~this proves not all reading are enjoyable or give positive information~~~
Are you a believer of the tarot?.......Have you been read? and when you look back over your life since your reading(s) .......have they come to fruition? Personally, I have learned that many time what we push aside during the reading because we feel it doesnt relate at all to us.........surfaces in a totally different but accurate way. (and I absolutely LOVE when that happens!)
Have a wonderful June Moon everyone......light an incense.....say a positive thought for someone out there who may need some support or guidance......and thank the spirits who watch over you every day. =)
Blessed Be......
WOW....thats at least a pr or shoes & a bag or two!
“This MONSTER was found between Mobile and Daphne, on the causeway crossing Mobile Bay. Game wardens were forced to shoot the alligator.
Anita and Charlie of the Oyster House could hear the bellowing in the night.
Their patrons had been telling them that they had seen a mammoth alligator in the waterway that runs behind their restaurant, but they dismissed the stories as exaggerations. "I didn't believe it," Charlie said.
Friday (5/19/06) they realized the stories were, if anything, understated. Alabama Fish
and Wildlife game wardens had to shoot the beast. In the picture above Joe Goff, a 6'5" tall game warden walks past the 23-foot, 1-inch alligator that he shot and killed on the causeway.”
AGH!.....Just keep walking.....
Ok....sooooo Im at work. Imagine very quiet corporate cubefarm with hallways connecting other very quiet hallways to other cubefarms. Now imagine me calmly exiting my cube...going down two aisles......and then proceeding to make the long walk past 10 or so little hallways going to other cubefarms and eventually to the ladies room. ( I know you are just dying to work here after that exciting description).
As I reach the main lobby (second floor overlooking main security area, visitors area & security turnstyles), the carpeting turns into tile.
The tampon that I thought I secured in the waistband of my skirt tumbles out, hits the tile floor on one end (producing crunching paper sound).....skids about three feet and stops right in front of a very nice yet incredibly shy indian programmer who sits about 5 cubes from me and is walking the other way (back from his trip to the mens room).
YIKES!!!.....HUGE MOMENT OF SILENCE......all time stands still for a split second.....kinda like when you are in a car crash and it all goes surreal on your ass?!?!
I calmly continue walking, reach down....and with swooping action, I grap the tampon like its the possible third out of the world series.
I of course am chanting silently to myself...." just keep walking"...."just keep walking"......
I wonder tho......is this what you boys do with our tools when left alone in their presence?
( more pictures to follow.....blogger is acting all slow & shit today).....
LOL....WHAT--EVAH!
Smartass
You are 71% Rational, 71% Extroverted, 57% Brutal, and 71% Arrogant.
You are the Smartass! You are rational, extroverted, brutal, and arrogant.
In fact, you could very well be the anti-Christ, as you are almost the exact opposite of everything Jesus was supposed to be. While Jesus says love your enemy, you say love beating the crap out of your enemy. While Jesus raises the dead, you raise hell. While Jesus walks on water, you tend to sink.
You probably consider people who are emotional and gentle to be big pussies who are obviously in lesser stature than you.
You have many flaws, despite your seeming intelligence and cool-headedness. For instance, you aren't very nice. In fact, you're probably an asshole. And you are conceited and self-centered. Not only that, but you are very loud and vocal about all this, seeing as how you are extroverted.
There is no better way to describe you than as a "smartass", I'm afraid. Perhaps just "ass" would do, too. But that's a little less literary and descriptive. At any rate, your main personality defect is the fact that you are self-centered, mean, uncaring, and brutally logical.
To put it less negatively:
1. You are more RATIONAL than intuitive.
2. You are more EXTROVERTED than introverted.
3. You are more BRUTAL than gentle.
4. You are more ARROGANT than humble.
My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
You scored higher than 77% on Rationality
You scored higher than 68% on Extroversion
You scored higher than 71% on Brutality
You scored higher than 86% on Arrogance
A positive dimension of Insomnia.....
I've said this before....but I am not sure people understand it or for that matter believe me when I try to explain how my brain doesnt EVER shut off. And how I thought growing up - everyones brains did this. (well I know my mom's did....& since she was a stay at home mother.....well...that was the behavior patterns I observed at 'normal').
so....stay with me here......what I am trying to spit out (type as fast as my brain is firing connections).........is that right now....I have hada four day week in which I tried to bill 40 hours because of the holiday. As a contracted consultant its all in the hours billed babee!! And momma has BILLS!! from the sporatic breaks I took last year to write my comps & get ready for the Dissertation phase.
wow....back to my story huh?....(good tangent tho I must say)........what was I typing about......oh yes......its 6 am and I have been up for the last 24 hours....exhausted from my work week, the heat & not really eating very well.
But I just found this quote & because I did not have time to pick it apart, analyze it & skim I had a MOMENT of enlightenment......
So Mothers Day, my Friend, Stubeans took the girls (or they just gave him their allowance) to best buy to purchase a MP3 player - The Sony Bean. I LUV it! It not only holds more songs than I could possibly get thru in a workout......but it also has an FM radio. =)
Well, in order to really enjoy it at the gym...I thought best to get one of those necklace lanyard earphone combo thingies. After much internet surfing to compare & educate myself, I realize I must drive to best buy, walmart, target, and FRYs electronics. I ended up buying them for $50.00. (SHOCK!) I anticipate as more manufacturers get on the bandwagon with this great little device.......the prices will come down. But for now.....I need them .....so I fork it out.
Here is a picture of what the girls decided to grab out of my bookbag, tear into......drag under the bed......and destroy AS I SLEPT SATURDAY AFTERNOON AFTER THE FUNERAL!!!!!
Off to FRY's for another set .....that I have successfully secured (crossing fingers) away from their little inquisitive and destructive selves!
You know who I mean if you are reading this!!
Altered "Get Over It" by the EAGLES
I wake up every day and what do I hear - YOU cryin' "Don't blame me"
YOU point your crooked little finger at everybody else
Spend all your time feelin' sorry for yourself
Victim of this, victim of that
Your momma's too thin; your daddy's too fat
Get over it
Get over it
All this whinin' and cryin' and pitchin' a fit
Get over it, get over it
You say you haven't been the same since you had your little crash
But you might feel better if I gave you some cash
The more I think about it, Old Billy was right
Let's kill all the lawyers, kill 'em tonight
You don't want to work, you want to live like a king
But the big, bad world doesn't owe you a thing
Get over it
Get over it
If you don't want to play, then you might as well split
Get over it, Get over it
It's like going to confession every time I hear you speak
You're makin' the most of your losin' streak
Some call it sick, but I call it weak
You drag it around like a ball and chain
You wallow in the guilt; you wallow in the pain
You wave it like a flag, you wear it like a crown
Got your mind in the gutter, bringin' everybody down
Complain about the present and blame it on the past
I'd like to find your inner child and kick its little ass
Get over it
Get over it
All this bitchin' and moanin' and pitchin' a fit
Get over it, get over it
Get over it
Get over it
It's gotta stop sometime, so why don't you quit
Get over it, get over it
