Beautiful post as usual, Minta. And the images you used were very beautiful. Admittedly, our celebration does seem cultlike but only to the prudish.

I have to go through your archives. You're an intensely interesting person!

interesting celebration indeed! ever notice that, here in america, weddings and funerals are very much the same. prepackaged and dull to the point where they look like the same type of event. (there's a ceremoney followed by a reception). might as well serve a multi-staged funeral cake, with a little tiny skull on the top.

i would even think about hiring the band or dj at the end of every funeral to play the ymca song a few times. you could even have somekind of emblem catching ceremony at a funeral reception. next one to catch the funeral garter or corsage will the the next one to die.

yeah, i think i have a million-dollar idea here. any other ideas for this funeral-reception?

The multi-tiered wedding cake with the skull on the top sounds good to me. I need to get hooked up with that.

Thanks for posting this... as a newcomer to L.A., I had heard about DotD. I love to learn all about the diversity of myriad cultures... you just saved me some digging. Great post. ~S
